Play “The Best Day Yet!” Game

Have you heard of this game? It’s pretty astonishing. No batteries
needed, no parts to assemble. You don’t have to buy a single pair of
dice, cards or video to enjoy its rewards. All you need is a sense of
humor ready at a moment’s notice.

All set?

Here’s how you play:

The second you wake up in the morning, before you have a moment to
think, just state out loud, “This is the best day yet!” Don’t feel the need to
be perky or overly optimistic. Simply put the idea out there and see what
the day brings. Regardless of sleepiness, impending deadline or
hangover, saying these words actually helps you feel a bit more hopeful
about getting out of bed.

Then, throughout the day, use this sentence at the quirkiest of times:

“This is the best shower yet!”

OR

“This is the best grocery shopping yet!”

OR

“This is the best putting on my underwear yet!”

I am not exactly sure what is happening scientifically, but the mere
absurdity seems to cause a shift. It not only changes your perspective,
you actually notice your surroundings differently. It truly brings a kind of
happiness into the most mundane of tasks that were simply waiting for
your attention.

Make sure you say it when you are in circumstances most likely to put
you in a bad mood:

“This is the best waiting in line yet!”

OR

“This is the best computer crashing yet!”

OR

“This is the best stubbing my toe yet!”

First of all, you will crack yourself up which will diffuse some tension.
And for some reason, every time I try it, the situation suddenly takes a
drastic turn. By raising my spirits and putting the idea out there that this
problem is salvageable, things change: My ride suddenly shows up, I
find what I have lost, or someone comes along to assist when I least
expected help.

I use this game with food, too. Not only does it taste differently, I find I
digest it better as well. Just before I begin to eat, I think, “This is the best
dinner yet.” I have tried eating a few bites before saying it and then a few
bites after saying it and sure enough, the taste actually improves once I
remember my statement!!

I invite you to join in this new game that is sweeping the nation. I bet it
will give you the best day yet!
